Tarek Bahgat

Tarek Bahgat has over 35 years of experience in construction management, project management and controls, claims and time delay analysis, risk management, value engineering and cost estimating and cost and schedule controls. Mr. Bahgat’s project portfolio includes projects for clients such as Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Construction, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, and international clients including Johnson and Johnson and BASF. His experience spans transit, infrastructure, power plants, water/wastewater facilities, and large hospitality and Institutional construction programs. During his career, he has participated in and led the preparation and facilitation of many value engineering, value planning, and risk management workshops.

Risk Management and Governance of Mega Projects

Megaprojects are large-scale, complex ventures that typically cost a billion dollars or more, take many years to develop and build, involve multiple public and private stakeholders, are transformational, and have major impacts locally, regionally and sometimes nationally. This session will discuss the implementation of risk management qualitative and quantitative processes on an iconic $16 billion mega project. We will discuss how Risk Management was integrated in the Governance of the Project and how technology facilitated the decision making process based on the risk outputs
